Time Spiral is a Magic: The Gathering set set on the plane of Dominaria, scarred by centuries of cataclysmic events including the Brothers’ War, the Phyrexian Invasion, and other disasters. Across this war-torn plane, massive temporal rifts have formed, tearing at the fabric of time and space, draining mana from the land, and causing echoes of the past to bleed into the present.

The Conflict on Dominaria

In the story of Time Spiral, planeswalkers and heroes such as Teferi, Venser, and Jhoira work desperately to mend the growing time rifts that threaten to destroy not only Dominaria but the entire Multiverse. As these rifts continue to worsen, figures and events from the plane’s turbulent history manifest in the present day, forcing the inhabitants to confront both the lingering wounds of the past and the imminent collapse of their world.

The Mechanical and Flavor Identity of Time Spiral

Time Spiral celebrates Dominaria’s rich history in Magic: The Gathering through both its narrative and its gameplay mechanics. The set introduces the Suspend mechanic, allowing cards to be cast with time counters and to enter the battlefield later. It also features many timeshifted cards with old-style borders that evoke nostalgia for earlier sets in the game's history. Additionally, Time Spiral returns numerous classic mechanics such as Flashback, Storm, and Kicker. These elements together create the flavor of a plane caught between its storied past and a precarious future as time itself unravels.
