In Commander, games are often decided by huge board states and creature combat, and due to the nature of multiplayer Magic, it can be tricky to navigate board wipes from multiple opponents. For many Commander players, Heroic Intervention has become the standard by which other protection spells are measured, giving all permanents hexproof and indestructible at a cost that's incredibly efficient. Instant-speed protection is critical because it lets you respond to a wipe on the stack.

Eldrazi Monument turns your entire army into a flying, indestructible force, at the cost of sacrificing a creature each upkeep, but in decks with token production or recursive creatures, that small price is worth the huge boost in survivability, especially in go-wide strategies.

Another effective approach is to remove your creatures from the battlefield before the wipe resolves, then return them afterward. Ghostway and Eerie Interlude save precious creatures while the mana cost is reasonably low, and if you run creatures with ETB effects, these cards get significantly better.

The advantage of flicker effects is that they bypass exile-based board wipes—a growing threat in modern Commander. However, your tokens and creature copies will not return.

Teferi's Protection is the golden standard of dodging nasty board wipes, destroy or exile effects—it does not matter, and it also grants complete immunity from damage and loss of life until your next turn, making it an important tool for surviving late-game turns in EDH. Another option with a similar effect comes from galadriel's dismissal. This card isn't quite as powerful as teferi's protection but has a similar effect and will protect against spells like Cyclonic rift which doesn't care about your creatures being indestructible.

The best protection is staying one step ahead. To avoid a blowout without protection, you need to show restraint with your threats—sandbag a few cards if you suspect a wrath is incoming, and apply maximum pressure with minimal threats to force your opponent to crack their wrath for minimal value.

Watch your opponents' available mana, look for untapped blue sources (potential counters), and be mindful of cards they've cast recently. If someone is holding up seven mana and hasn't played anything, a wrath might be coming.

Protection stops damage, enchanting/equipping, blocking, and targeting, but it doesn't do anything against other kinds of effects—typical white wrath effects like Shatter the Sky or Doomskar mean protection won't help.
