Denzilore Fatehold Commander Deck: Bracket 2, 3 and 4 Builds

Deck Tech Commander
Denzilore Fatehold
Denzilore Fatehold · Art by Dmitry Burmak

Denzilore Fatehold puts a +1/+1 counter on each creature you control whenever you scry or surveil. (Scry means looking at the top cards of your library and keeping them or putting them on the bottom; surveil is the same, except the ones you don't keep go to your graveyard.) That turns every cantrip (a cheap spell that replaces itself) in an Azorius deck into an anthem, a boost for your whole team. It has flash and flying, so you can drop it at the end of an opponent's turn and start growing your board before they untap.

This Denzilore Fatehold commander deck comes in three builds: bracket 2, 3 and 4. Each audited by our own calculator, so you can pick the power level your pod actually plays at. For how Denzilore stacks up against the rest of the set, see our ranking of the best new Reality Fracture commanders.

How every build wins

All three decks run the same engine, so learn it once. The trigger is per scry or surveil event, not per card looked at: Opt is one counter on everything, and so is Preordain. That makes a few cards outsized here.

Cryptic Annelid
Sigiled Starfish
Herald of Secret Streams

The counters do the rest. Herald of Secret Streams makes every creature with a +1/+1 counter unblockable, and Abzan Falconer gives each of them flying. Matoya, Archon Elder draws a card every time you scry or surveil. And because your whole team carries counters, Damning Verdict ("destroy all creatures with no counters on them") is close to a one-sided board wipe.

Bracket 2: Budget

Denzilore Fatehold — Budget has no Game Changers (the official list of cards that push a deck up the brackets), and our audit puts it at bracket 2. It wins with cheap evasive bodies and a steady stream of counters.

Bracket 3: Upgraded

Denzilore Fatehold — Upgraded runs three Game Changers: Cyclonic Rift, Rhystic Study and Smothering Tithe> Our audit puts it at bracket 3. The audit also flags Lost Isle Calling, which gives you an extra turn if you exile it with seven or more verse counters. That's allowed at bracket 3 as long as you're not chaining extra turns, so mention it in your pre-game talk. Only scries add verse counters, so surveils from Consider or Proctor of Potential don't count toward seven and cashing it in costs {4}{U}{U} at sorcery speed.

Bracket 4: Optimized

Denzilore Fatehold — Optimized carries eleven Game Changers, and our audit puts it at bracket 4. Fast mana (rocks and lands that make extra mana early), free counterspells and tutors (cards that search your library for a specific card) let you land Denzilore early and protect it.

Play it, then prove it

Copy whichever build fits your pod straight from its decklist, swap in your pet cards, and run your version through the bracket calculator before game night. Then record your games: every result moves the deck's rating immediately, and deck ELO is tracked separately from yours.

We soon after picked up on the commander format and have played it ever since. This website started as spreadsheet that we kept track of our games on and has evolved into this website. Our passions for the game run deep.
