Magic: The Gathering Boldly Goes to the Final Frontier

Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek arrives November 13, 2026, and the official First Look just revealed the set's captains, new mechanics, and full product lineup. Unveiled on the July 14 episode of WeeklyMTG, the set celebrates Star Trek's 60th anniversary and pulls from every era of the franchise — the classic shows, the films, and modern series alike. Wizards of the Coast showed off legendary versions of Captain James T. Kirk and Captain Kathryn Janeway, the U.S.S. Enterprise-D as a Spacecraft, and the Borg Queen, with plenty more still under wraps.

Confirmed Products and Release Date

The global tabletop release lands November 13, 2026, with prerelease events running November 6–12 and the MTG Arena release on November 10. The confirmed lineup includes Play Boosters, Collector Boosters, and four Commander decks — Federation Fleet, Landing Party, Klingon Fury, and We Are the Borg — each also available in an all-surge-foil Collector's Edition. Rounding out the products are a Bundle, a Beam Me Up Bundle, a Beginner Box, Draft Night, two Scene Boxes, and Prerelease Packs.

Mechanics and Collector Treatments Teased So Far

The First Look introduced assimilate, a Borg keyword action that puts creatures under your control and turns them into Borg artifact creatures; face a dilemma, which triggers whenever you choose modes for a spell or ability; and the federation ability word, which cares about creature types among your non-Borg creatures. Spacecraft and the station mechanic also return from Edge of Eternities. On the collector side, expect LCARS frame cards (including all ten shock lands), retro Classic Enterprise treatments, borderless scene cards, Stardates reprints, and — a first for Magic: The Gathering — headliner cards hand-signed by seven Star Trek actors.
